2020 Honda HR-V Vs. 2020 Toyota C-HR

The sub-compact SUV segment occupies an increasingly enviable place in the SUV market. Both useful in urban centres, but also on the roads of Quebec and Canada, small SUVs look good and offer a lot of versatility. Even though competition is fierce, Honda and Toyota offer two sub-compact SUV models, the Honda HR-V and the Toyota C-HR.

Lombardi Honda, proud dealer of the brand par excellence in Montreal near the North and South Shore, tells you today about its Honda HR-V by comparing it to the Toyota C-HR.

HR-V or C-HR: Which Letters do you Prefer?

Because Honda has your safety at heart, the manufacturers of the 2020 HR-V have devoted special attention to this element. The different versions of the 2020 Honda HR-V (LX, Sport and Touring) are equipped with a wide range of safety and driving assistance features (standard or available), including lane departure or road warning, blind spot detection system, electronically controlled braking system, hill start assist, etc.

On the entertainment side, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as the two USB ports in the cab, won't let you see the time go by on routine trips or longer distances, plus a user-friendly touch screen. If you want even more, the Touring model (which has all the features of the other three trim levels, the LX-2WD, LX-AWD and SPORT) also includes a voice-recognition multimedia system that's linked to Honda's satellite navigation system, as well as LED headlights.

The 2020 Toyota C-HR comes in three trim levels: LE, XLE and Limited. Each of these versions offers an increasing number of features, equipment and functionality, but not as elaborate as in the 2020 HR-V. Only the XLE version is available in a slimmer package with a leather-wrapped steering wheel, 18-inch wheels, Smart Key with push-button start, blind-spot monitoring system, heated outside mirrors, HD radio with SiriusXM, 4G LTE Wi-Fi access point, and Toyota Safety Connect telematics system (Toyota Safety Sense).

Simple and Efficient Performance

Since choosing a larger vehicle shouldn't mean giving up driving pleasure, the 2020 Honda HR-V comes standard with a satisfying 1.8-litre 4-cylinder engine capable of producing over 141 horsepower, comparable to Toyota's C-HR. Continuously variable transmission and excellent intelligent all-wheel drive will provide you with optimum handling in all conditions; a big disappointment in contrast at Toyota, there is no all-wheel drive. You and your passengers will feel at home in the 2020 HR-V with its spacious, comfortable interior built with attention to detail.

While the 2020 Honda HR-V offers excellent reliability and high visibility, Toyota's C-HR suffers from problematic rearward visibility. While the 2020 Honda HR-V is considered the most practical in its segment and is very fuel efficient, Toyota's C-HR seems less practical and slightly more expensive in terms of fuel consumption. However, in both cases, the interior design seems to be successful.

All in all, if we have to determine a winner, we would tend to tell you that the 2020 Honda HR-V wins this comparative match. It's reliable, user-friendly and performs well both on the road and in the city.
