The 2021 Honda Civic VS. The 2021 Nissan Sentra

While the Honda Civic has been at the top of the sedan sales charts for many years, the Nissan Sentra is enjoying growing success. Indeed, its latest refinements have been very successful in bringing the car up to date, offering undeniable competition for other sedans. However, timeless and always ahead of its time, the Honda Civic offers nonetheless more in many respects.

Lombardi Honda Montreal near both the North and South Shore presents you with a duel between these two Japanese cars. Find your new Honda Civic or a used Honda Civic in Montreal at Lombardi Honda, where many tempting promotions await you.

The Honda: More Generous

First of all, on the outside, we are dealing with two vehicles having a similar style, both mature and modern with well-designed lines and a sporty side. Available LED headlights and fog lights as well as 16″ to 18″ wheels are available on both cars. The Sentra, however, is only available as a sedan, while the Civic can be a slightly sportier sedan or hatchback.

Behind the wheel, there are a few notable differences, including the engine. Nissan’s 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine produces 149 horsepower and 146 lb-ft of torque, making it the only choice for the Sentra model. Honda, for its part, offers a standard 2.0-litre engine on the base sedan versions, with a slightly more generous 158 horsepower.

Consumers looking for more power can opt for a Touring version or the hatchback. The latter are equipped with a more generous 1.5 L turbocharged engine with 174 horsepower, rising to 180 horsepower on the Sport version. The Civic therefore offers not only more choice, but more power and sportiness on all versions.

The Honda Civic also provides more room for passengers and cargo. Rear passengers have 37.4 inches of legroom, compared to 34.7 inches on the Nissan Sentra. Cargo capacity is also slightly higher at 15.1 cu. ft. for Honda, while Nissan offers 14.3 cu. ft. Both sedans, however, offer 60/40-split folding seats for more space when the need arises.

From a comfort standpoint, it all comes down to a few details, again in the Civic’s favour. Both sedans offer heated front seats as standard; however, only the Civic offers heated rear seats in the Touring version. In addition, the Civic also offers luxurious leather-trimmed seats. Add to that a power sunroof on almost all Civics, but only available in one of the Sentra’s more upscale versions.

Power-adjustable front seats are now commonplace. The 6-way adjustable driver’s seat on the Sentra is manual, except in the high-end version. The Civic also offers six manual adjustments in the LX, but all others have eight power adjustments. It’s just a detail, but it still shows Honda’s utmost generosity in terms of comfort.

The same goes for audiophiles, with Honda’s standard 8-speaker audio system, or even ten speakers with subwoofer in the Touring. Those who expect good sound quality will be disappointed by the meager four to six speakers in the base versions of the Nissan Sentra.

In addition to these features, both sedans offer a set of standard safety technologies worthy of the Japanese automakers’ reputation. Modern entertainment technologies are equally comprehensive and up to date in both cases.

All in all, the Honda Civic is primarily more capable, but also more customizable. It also offers more amenities and comfort, especially in its generous high-end versions.
